Award-winning author of children’s books, M.O. Yuksel wanted a clean and colorful website for her books and the services she offers as an author, educator, and speaker.
On the design side, Siegal Works compiled a color palette from the cover art of some of her books and she asked that purple, her favorite color, be the primary contrasting color. My favorite design element is the little reader sitting with legs outstretched holding an open book that I created to be her logo. The open book with the reader’s feet cutout forms an M. The reader’s head is an O. The reader’s 2 hands are the dots after each of M.O.’s initials, and the negative space of the book’s spine and below the O forms a Y.
On the development side, to highlight the honors and attention her books have received, Siegal Works created the “Praise & Awards” and “Press” pages, both of which have content that is automatically generated based on data entered for reviews, book lists, media attention, podcasts, etc. for each of her books. Not only does that information appear for each book, it also appears in aggregate across all books without anyone having to make sure the pages are kept in synch manually. We did the same for the myriad reading guides and activities for each book so they could be entered once, then visible in both the individual book page and the aggregate “Kids & Educators” resources page.
