Hena Khan

Hena Khan is an award-winning author of children’s books. She has received praise and honors for many of her works, which include picture books, middle-grade novels, short stories, anthologies, pick-your-path adventures, and graphic novels. She asked for a website refresh with a more refined color palette and fewer external images. She wants to continue to feature new and future books and additionally highlight select press coverage while also maintaining a comprehensive catalog of awards, lists, reviews, and broadcasts.

Siegal Works was eager to accept the challenge and once again created a new logo that features paisleys and draws inspiration from the unique quality of her name, which O. Siegal discovered could be read in a spiral.

We retained the “New” and “Coming Soon” badges based on the publication date for each book but styled them in a new way to be consistent with the colors and fonts of the v3 website. Additionally, all the praise, awards, book reviews, press articles (both written about Hena or by Hena), broadcasts, and author visit testimonials are stored in the database as first class objects. This allows for dynamic queries to pull in the information on the pages as well as individual book details with no duplication of effort.

Testimonial

When my website was getting overcrowded with content, Bess patiently accommodated my requests for changes, but then suggested a full redesign. And I’m so glad she did! I’m thrilled with the outcome of the new site, which feels fresh, clean and easy-to-navigate. As always, Bess was thoughtful and intentional during every step of the process, took the time to understand my vision, and executed it beautifully! It’s not often you find someone as adept at problem solving and open to feedback as Bess—she is truly a joy to work with! Best of all, she thought of things that make the site better than I could have imagined.
