The Beroukhim Lab is a cancer genomics-focused research lab directed by Rameen Beroukhim, MD, PhD. Rameen, associate professor of medicine at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School and associate member of the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, wanted his lab’s website to better reflect this interesting and fun group of people to help attract talented and enthusiastic new members to join the team. When we updated his site, we replaced the staged “science-y” stills taken inside his lab with photos of team outings to brighten up some pages.
Between his work as a professor and seeing patients in a neuro-oncology clinic, Rameen’s time is limited, so I wanted to make sure he could make quick and easy changes to his website, especially when it’s time to add new publications, new sponsors, other news, or new members to the lab, or simply move a current member to the alumni section.
During the website upgrade process, Rameen was open to a new logo. Maintaining the existing color scheme, we built on his current logo by filling in some space with a design that could also be used as the site icon. Special thanks to O. Siegal for coming up with DNA base pairs as the basis for the design concept. The curves and lines placed together from left to right read as forward progress. As a bonus, they also resemble a B for Beroukhim Lab, and I also see an R for Rameen.
