When my oldest finished Kindergarten, I volunteered to re-write the elementary school’s PTA’s website. I integrated a newsletter subscription service so the PTA could retire its old way of emailing parents. The first theme was designed by someone else, but a year or so later, I switched to this one, so the PTA would have a responsive website that could be easily read from smartphones. These days, all themes are responsive, but back then, it was a revelation! I stayed on as webmaster for 7 years until my youngest was in 5th grade.
This screenshot was taken after I had handed off webmaster responsibilities to another parent volunteer, but its design and features are essentially as it was, and the header still uses the photograph I took of the school when the sun hit the rooftops just right. Some years the website included school spirit wear stores, too. My friend and I volunteered to design and fulfill spirit wear my last year as webmaster, which happened to be the 50th anniversary of the school.
